An Initiative for the Wellbeing and Protection of India's Children

Society for the Child is a blog and resource centre of information that aims to spread awareness on child rights, mobilise the community to demand accountability on behalf of our children and take action towards creating a safe society for them.

Every citizen has a responsibility towards the children of this nation and is a custodian for child rights.

Every child is unique and every child needs to be addressed.

The root cause of a child rights violation is always external to the child but (s)he bears the long-term consequences of it, which will eventually adversely impact society as well.

Action starts with awareness.
India has comprehensive legislative provisions for the protection and wellbeing of our children. We ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992, pledging to protect and provide a safe and ideal environment for the growth and development of our children. Whether we are keeping our commitment or not is debatable.

'Child Rights' is everybody's business. Every single law for children, whether international or Indian, recognises the crucial role and responsibility of each citizen, individually and collectively, towards the protection and welfare of our children. Society For The Child is an attempt to empower this community to protect and nurture our children.
